California

We were very pleasantly surprised with the accomodations at Sam's Town. We had a great time there even though it is about 6 miles off the strip. And at $26.99 a night, hey, and winning at the tables, how can you beat it.

Sam's Slots

We didn't hit any big jackpots on the slots but we didn't lose a lot either. The table games paid off better for me.

This was the very first Casino I had ever stepped foot in and that was back in 1992 on my way back from LA to Salt Lake City. Didn't gamble a cent but did enjoy the buffet then.

I am standing just inside the California State line to take this picture. The fence marks the spot.

We had planned to go down this road with the group to make the California State line but couldn't get out of Las Vegas due to road work. It worked out just as well. We would have had to walk into California instead of ride and there was no sign showing the state line here anyway. The map didn't show it to be a dirt road.

This is from I 15. We made it. Hope to do it again with the group someday.

The Mojave Desert and we escaped the real heat of the day here. Only in the 90's as we crossed.
